The Supreme Court of the United States has rejected the appeal made by the Chinese company against the law related to the banning of the popular social media platform TikTok.
According to the news of the British media BBC, the United States Supreme Court judge panel gave a unanimous verdict on the banning of TikTok.
In the ruling, the court said, collecting and reviewing user data is a common practice of app companies in the digital age. But the degree to which TikTok does so and the risk of being controlled by foreign adversaries justifies the government's differential treatment of the company for reasons of national security.
US lawmakers passed a law in April last year. It is said that the app will be banned from January 19, 2025. However, if they cut ties with the Chinese parent company, they will have the opportunity to operate in the United States.
TikTok approached the Supreme Court against this decision.
However, the court unanimously ruled in favor of the ban.
